MP: Learn why the Muslim women of Khargone staged a protest; case registered against six

Khargone— In Khargone, Madhya Pradesh, a Chakka Jam [road block] and protest staged against the administration by Muslim women has had a heavy cost for them. The administration has registered a criminal case against six people, including a government doctor, for protesting without permission and for the Chakka Jam.

What is the whole matter about?

Last month, on Ram Navami, a huge procession was taken out from Talab Chowk in Khargone. As this procession of thousands passed through the Muslim-dominated areas of Khargone, some people started calling out provocative slogans, following which communal violence broke out. In, as the situation spiraled out of control, stone pelting started, and some anti-social elements set fire to shops and vehicles.

Following the communal violence on Ram Navami in Khargone city, bulldozers were rolled out to demolish the houses and shops of the accused. A curfew was imposed in the city for about 20 days. After this curfew was called off, on Tuesday just gone, Muslim women took to the streets in large numbers and demonstrated against the administration for bulldozing their homes and against the cases registered against elderly people and minor children in the matter. The protesters also staged a Chakka Jam, after which the police registered a case against six people including a doctor.

While talking to The Mooknayak, Shahrukh Mirza said that his uncle’s shop had also been targeted by the bulldozers sent by the administration. He said the administration has registered cases against such people as the elderly and against children. After registering these cases against innocent people, the administration sent in bulldozers to demolish their homes. The victims will now be taking the matter to the court.

In the protest staged against the action taken by the police against innocent and minor people and to highlight several demands, the Chakka Jam happened in the Mohan Talkies area of Khargone city. According to the police, hundreds of people organized this Chakka Jam without permission around 1 pm on Tuesday. The administration also stated that the rally was taken out without due notice. As a result, not only was there traffic disruption in the area, but also many people were otherwise inconvenienced, and the police had to be deployed.

The six people including a government doctor against whom a case has been registered in the matter are Sahida, Sattar Attawala, Shakeel, Sadiq, Dr. Sabiya Syed, and SadiqHazari.
