World — Ambedkar Association of North America (AANA) congratulates and welcomes State of Michigan’s decision to proclaim April 14, 2022, as “Dr B.R Ambedkar Equity Day”.
Dr. B.R Ambedkar, born in an untouchable caste, championed the rights of marginalized sections and women all his life. He was the chief architect of the Indian constitution, a profound social reformer, educationalist, economist, and an emancipator of millions of oppressed people.
“The state of Michigan is home to a diverse population comprising various ethnicities and races. It has a strong commitment towards social justice, fighting racism and all other types of discrimination. These values and ideals are directly in line with Dr. B.R Ambedkar’s life struggles, teachings, and contributions. As such, Ambedkar Association of North America is thankful to have worked with the Michigan Governor’s office for this proclamation,” AANA said.
AANA told, “We encourage all other states in the union to also proclaim April 14, 2022 as “Dr. B.R Ambedkar Equity Day” and send a strong message to the world that they stand for equal rights and justice for all.”
